First Headmaster Email of the New School Year!

Dear Parents,
New Headmaster
As this is my first official email to you as the new headmaster, I thought I should introduce myself. My name is James Casson. My wife Pamela and I are coming up on our 10th anniversary and have five children, Gideon (8), Barnabas (7), Jemimah (5), Joseph (2), and Ruth (8 months). We moved to a home on twenty acres close to Chase, BC, just over a year ago. I was homeschooled in a Christian family and trusted in Christ at age 19. I want to thank Kyla Bleyenberg for her tireless pioneering work in this role. I am excited by the opportunity to step in and help with the work of this ministry.
Important school information:
The new school year is almost here. Classes begin September 6th. Please read this email carefully and save it for future reference.
All students will be receiving their T-shirts and medical packages on the first day of school. We will need these forms filled out and returned by September 9th.
Student Drop-Off:
The building will open at 8:10AM for students to enter. As with previous years, the West parking lot will be a pull-through drop-off. All students will be dropped off at the main doors.
Student Pick-Up:
Dismissal is at 3:00 PM Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, our School of Grammar (K-6) dismisses at noon and the School of Logic (7-9) dismisses at 3:00PM. We ask that you park in the appropriate parking lot, as follows:
Parents of children in Kindergarten to Grade 1 are to park in the West lot.
Parents of K-1 students must come to the front door to pick them up. Siblings of K-1 will also exit through the main doors.
All other parents are to park in the East lot. Students will exit through the "playground" door and meet their parents in the East parking lot.
Parking Lot Safety:
Please discuss parking lot safety with your children. It is also crucial that students not go between the two parking lots after school or enter the alley. Visibility in the alley is limited, and children are not to be back there unless walking with a parent.
Volunteer Opportunities:
We have two immediate volunteer needs:
Lunch supervisors for the Grammar Students (K-6) and Logic Students (7-8): Adult family members are needed Monday through Thursday from 11:40 to 12:50. We will be using the Zeffy sign-up link again this year for scheduling lunch supervision. That link will be emailed out on Monday, September 5th.
Tear Down & Clean Up: Our staff can use help Friday afternoons to assist with cleaning and packing away the classrooms for church on Sunday. Email Elysha at fbc@firstbaptistkamloops.org if you can help.
Payments:
Our school treasurer will send an email soon with information on tuition payments. Please be on the lookout for these details.
If you are new to our school community, I invite you to join our private "First Baptist Classical Academy Family" Facebook page. This is an informal way to connect with other parents to arrange playdates, sell uniforms, etc. You do have to be friends with someone who is already a member to be added, so if you can't find it through a general search, feel free to add one of the other parents as a friend or me, and we will add you to the group!
Upcoming Dates to Note: I am looking forward to Initium, which is scheduled for Friday, September 9th at 6:30PM. This is an evening for us to honor our staff and recognize our new families. Come join us and start the year off with worship and the Word. On Sunday, September 11th, 4:00 - 7:30 PM, we have our back-to-school carnival fundraiser event. There will be a ton of games, prizes, food, and candy! We'll have bouncy castles, animal petting, BB Gun Marksmanship contests and more! Please see the event page for more details. Hope to see you there.
If you have any questions as you make preparations for the beginning of school, feel free to contact the office or email me. See you soon!
In Christ,
James Casson
