September 1 Headmaster Email
Hi Parents! I hope you all are enjoying your last week of summer and gearing up for our return to school next week. The staff have been busy at work this week getting their classrooms set up and we are all eager to welcome the students back. Here's what you should know this week: For Action Items: Restart Guide & Parent Orientation: Please read the attached document for all of the Academy's policies and procedures on campus Health and Safety. These new policies and procedures are in line with the BC Ministry of Education's Stage 2 Restart Plan and the BC CDC's Covid-19 guidelines for school settings. I ask you to pay special attention to the "School Day" and "On Campus Health & Safety" sections. One of the biggest changes for our returning families will be the Drop-Off and Pick-Up procedures. We will be covering these in-depth at the Parent Orientation, so please read this document ahead of time and bring your questions! We look forward to seeing you Thursday evening at 7 PM in person or through the school's Facebook livestream. Student Orientation, September 8th: Students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 will attend school 8:30 to 11:50 and students in Grade 4 through 7 will attend school 1:00 to 3:05. We will follow the regular procedures for drop-off and pick-up as outlined in the attached document. Please send a water bottle and snack. This will be a great first day to allow students to get familiar with the procedures, spaces, and teachers. For Information Items: School Supplies: Some questions have come in regards to what school supplies need to be sent with the students on the first day of class. The answer is easy--nothing! Your enrollment fees cover all student supplies. Page 5 of the attached document provides more information regarding lunch, water bottles, etc. Volunteer and Staff Policy Training: Each year, every adult who works directly with children in our school, whether volunteer or staff, is required to undergo our insurance's children's policy and abuse awareness training. If you are currently committed to a paid or volunteer position within the academy, or if you are interested in volunteering with our students, this is a necessary training. The next session will be held on Friday, September 11 at 1 PM in the sanctuary. If you are unable to attend this day, please let me know and we will make other arrangements. https://mcusercontent.com/8953c80f59d35d4a23c3dfc68/files/41b9d3f7-21df-47f7-aa69-03b82217e84e/September_Restart_Guide.pdf
