A Christian Education in Kamloops

Christianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence. In Jesus Christ abide all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. Christians have been given the gift of faith in a loving God whose purposes we can contemplate and study in order to know Him better. In fact, the new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge. Indeed, for thousands of years, Christians have shared their discoveries and declared their praise to God as they have discerned and contemplated the great mysteries of God and His creation. Through the ages, their work has produced a brilliant cultural legacy which should be cherished in homes and in schools, including Kamloops, as a source of delight and inspiration. Therefore, an adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for Christ's people.

However, it is important to remember there is a priority to learning in which Jesus is Lord. As a result, in Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility to Christ. Freedom in any orderly relationship of human life is always limited and never absolute. Therefore, the freedom of a teacher in a Christian school in Kamloops is limited by the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ, and by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures.

In addition to this, Christian parents have a God-given responsibility to see that their children’s faith is fostered at all times (Deut. 11:18-23), and the fostering of a child's faith should be done in conjunction with their Christian Education, not apart from it. First Baptist Classical Academy collaborates with parents and families in Kamloops in training children to love the Lord with all their hearts, minds, and souls. The Academy strives to integrate our faith into every course and to allow faith to govern all our relationships both within the Christian community and within the broader community of Kamloops.

Therefore, in all its levels, programs, and teaching, First Baptist Academy seeks to:

  1. Teach all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with the Scriptures at the center (II Timothy 3:16-17);

  2. Provide a clear model of the biblical Christian life through our staff and board (Matthew 22:37-40);

  3. Encourage every student to begin and develop his relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 19:13-15).

A Christian Bible

With regard to doctrine, First Baptist Classical Academy adheres to the essential beliefs articulated in our Statement of Faith.  However, we welcome children, students and families from all backgrounds in Kamloops regardless of their spiritual beliefs or religious convictions, so long as parents and guardians are willing to accept that our institution is a Christian academy and that all teaching and Christian education will be done in accordance with the Scriptures.
