Why choose First Baptist Classical Academy?

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord..."
Jeremiah 17:7
Our Vision & Prayer for First Baptist Classical Academy
Like many schools, First Baptist Classical Academy is an independent school dedicated to providing students in Kamloops with excellent academic instruction that meets or exceeds BC curricular standards.
However, we want more than this for our children and for our parents. Our aim at FBCA is to graduate young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding, who reason persuasively and articulate precisely, who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of the Scriptures, and who do all this with eagerness in joyful submission to God.
We desire our students to recognize cultural influences as distinct from the truth of the Bible, and to be unswayed towards evil by the former. We aim for them to be well-prepared in all situations, possessing both information and the knowledge of how to use it. We desire they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious; equipped with and understanding the tools of learning; desiring to grow in understanding, yet fully realizing the limitations and foolishness of the wisdom of this world.
We desire they have a heart for the lost and the courage to seek to dissuade those who are stumbling towards destruction; that they distinguish real religion from religion in form only; and that they possess the former, knowing and loving the Lord Jesus Christ. And all these we desire them to possess with humility and gratitude to God.
We aim to cultivate in our parents a sense of responsibility for the Academy and for the community of Kamloops; to see them well informed about the goals of our classical and Christian approach to education. We desire them to grow with the Academy, involved in and excited about this journey. We aim to help them to follow Biblical principles in addressing concerns, to be inclined to hearing both sides of a story before rendering a verdict, and to embrace the Scripture’s injunctions to encourage and stir up one another to love and good works.
Finally, in our relationship with Kamloops, we aim to be above reproach in our business dealings and supportive of the local business community. We further seek to exemplify the unity of the body of Christ, to develop greater fellowship and understanding with the churches, and to bring honor to our Lord in all our endeavors.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
/ PHILOSOPHY
01
Education at First Baptist Classical Academy is intended to be inherently different in philosophy and content than that offered in the public schools or many other Christian schools. First Baptist Classical Academy strives to operate as a servant to the family under the Biblical conviction that the education of young people is the responsibility of parents and the immediate family rather than the responsibility of the state or the academy. To this end, First Baptist Classical Academy does not seek merely to involve parents and family in the education of children. Rather, FBCA seeks to empower parents to be the primary educators in the lives of their children.
/ FAMILY
02
In this spirit, First Baptist Classical Academy will seek to encourage parental instruction and involvement as the ideal means of fulfilling the Scriptural Command incumbent upon parents and family in addition to classroom instruction.
03
/ COMMUNITY
Firist Baptist Classical Academy recognizes the Bible’s indication of a gathered assembly as an ordained means to education and discipleship, and will seek to provide community and appropriate times of assembly for all members of the Academy to further their education and discipleship. Additionally, First Baptist Classial Academy seeks to provide a classroom alternative to families in Kamloops that are unable to home school their children or otherwise determine that a classroom environment is ideal to the education of their child.
04
/ CLASSICAL SCHOLARSHIP
First Baptist Classical Academy provides a biblically-based curriculum and teaches all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with the Scriptures at the center. In conjunction with the biblical emphasis, First Baptist Classical Academy strives to follow a classical Christian education.
OUR STORY
01
/ OUR ROOTS
First Baptist Classical Academy was initially established in 2012 under the name "Fidelis Christian Academy" as a Christian co-op school, in partnership with Heritage Christian Online School. Several home-schooling families committed to working together to provide a classical and biblically-based education to their children. While these home-schooling families were a part of First Baptist Church, the co-op was a seperate and distinct organization.
However, in the Spring of 2018, the congregation of First Baptist Church of Kamloops determined to launch a full-time classical school, and these same parents, students, and supporters came together to make First Baptist Classical Academy a reality.

In the Fall of 2018, First Baptist Classical Academy was launched with 2 teachers and 20 students in grades K-5.
02
/ THE FUTURE
First Baptist Classical Academy is seeking to establish a complete K-12 school where students may earn their high school certificate. At this time, First Baptist Classical Academy is offering education to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, while adding the next grade each year.
